It is the emotion in her work, which first captures the attention of the collector, a powerful, immediate response to a dynamic insight that is unforgettable. Far less representational than much of the work currently being created in the Southwest, Arlene La Dell Hayes’ animal and human forms seem to vibrate with a vital, intense life of their own.
Born in 1952, into a family steeped in traditional art, Hayes is emerging as an artist with an inclination towards expressionism in the abstract style. The ambitious act of her artistic expression has begun to set her apart as an individual artist following her own intuition. Hayes’ three-dimensional work in bronze, stone clay and plaster is sought by knowledgeable collectors. The form and mass come together with extraordinary execution. Her oil, acrylic, and pastel paintings have been discovered by serious art patrons. The paintings focus attention on the common and universal experiences in everyday life. Hayes studied at Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas, The Bellas Artes in San Miguel De Allende, Mexico, and under other numerous, highly recognized artists. |
