After receiving a B.F.A. in ceramic sculpture in 1969, Sheena spent the next 30 years making art jewelry, receiving many awards including Best of Show in the jewelry category at the 2001 Taos Open. Finally, about 6 years ago, Sheena was able to return to her first creative calling, ceramic sculpture. It was almost immediately successful and very creatively satisfying. In 2005, Sheena was awarded the Best of Sculpture award at the Taos Invitational Fall Arts Show.

Her current works are fired either using the raku technique or a Japanese style Anagama kiln. Both produce unique pieces that preserve a visual record of the firing process as in integral part of their beauty. She uses the theme of the horse allegorically. The figures open, becoming symbolic vessels bringing attention to the inner worlds.
